Water Management in Horizontal Gated Communities: Real-Time Monitoring with WiserMeter Technology
In a gated community in southern Brazil, covering approximately 370,650 acres, WiserMeter implemented a remote metering solution that sets new standards for efficiency and coverage in large-scale projects.

Challenge
The goal was to establish a metering infrastructure that could:
• Operate effectively across a vast area with low building density;
• Provide frequent and accurate meter readings;
• Enable individualized water consumption management, even in a predominantly horizontal layout.
Solution
A total of 302 water meters were installed, each equipped with radiofrequency modules operating on the 434 MHz wMBus protocol, transmitting data every 8 seconds.To ensure efficient data reception, five LegitFix data concentrators—developed by WiserMeter—were installed on utility poles. This setup captures readings from all meters every minute, ensuring high coverage and reliability.
Key Results
• Optimized Coverage: Meters located up to 1 km away in a straight line from a LegitFix were successfully read;
• Redundancy: Many meters are read by more than one concentrator, increasing system resilience and ensuring a high;
SLA for data capture;
• Anomaly Detection: Minute-by-minute readings enable fast identification of leaks and abnormal nighttime usage;
• Low Operational Cost: Despite high transmission frequency, the modules have an estimated lifespan of 15 years, requiring minimal maintenance.
